Steven, a Southern California native, has grown up on stage. Starting out with the local community theatre, Steven made his professional stage debut in a regional production of Funny Girl, starring Stephanie J. Block. Focusing on his dance training throughout middle school and high school, Steven trained with some of the most established teachers in Los Angeles, including Mandy Moore, Dee Caspary, and Terry Beeman. Steven competed on the national level, earning many awards for his solo and group work. Steven returned to musical theatre, working steadily in productions included The Wizard of Oz, A Chorus Line (directed by original Broadway cast member, Kay Cole), and Beauty & the Beast.
Steven has been seen on television in Girls (HBO), White Collar (USA), Smash (NBC), Nurse Jackie (Showtime), and Elementary (CBS).
Steven has also worked on the films Side Effects, Runner Runner, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Winter's Tale.
In 2007, Steven moved to New York to attend Marymount Manhattan College. He immediately became involved with Broadway in South Africa. Soon after beginning his involvement with BSA, he began assisting its artistic director, Jen Bender, on various projects and readings including a reading of Einstein’s Dreams (with Alison Fraser and Kate Shindle), and Broadway Stands Up for Freedom at the NYCLU. Steven continued to work closely with the artistic staff of BSA through 2011, working year round on various concerts, benefits, and galas leading up to the annual trip to South Africa each January.
While in college, Steven developed and refined his American Sign Language skills and worked as a job coach for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Steven also channeled his skills artistically, providing interpreting services to the theatre department at Marymount Manhattan College. Through this endeavor, he became the resident sign language interpreter at the college, where he interprets campus tours, special events, graduation, baccalaureate, and of course, the main stage productions. Steven also tutors privately upon request.
Steven has also found joy designing websites, album art, and advertising materials for other performers including Katie Thompson, Natalie Joy Johnson, Brian Nash, and Tracy McDowell.
Steven is a graduate of Marymount Manhattan College, where he earned a B.A. in Communication Arts with a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies.
